You ought to challenge this, our borderline BNP supporters on h2g2 will have misleadingly phrased their Yikes and the mods who work at weekends are outsourced and look at posts in isolation.

I think it may have broken the rule of no advertising, but FB's right, you should talk to the Italics.

I'm not sure some of these people are borderline BNP supporters: in a couple of cases, there's no borderline about it.

I haven't see the post in question (unsubbed from the thread, where people are deliberately misrepresenting the facts not much point in debating).

I do know that weekend mods are more twitchy and tend to err on the side of caution. I find our PTB tend toward being much more reasonable.

HI - the no advertising thing was the problem but I think we know that wasn't the real reason why it was reported.

Lofty - yep, I've switched to Ubuntu. It's given me two problems:

1) There isn't a Linux version of Reaper (but there are ways around this)
2) I no longer have time to make a coffee, have a shower, read a newspaper and do a spot of decorating while waiting for the PC to boot up of a morning.

ignoring that a large part of UAF are far left groups who are just as concerned with pushing their own political views and causing trouble as they are at stopping facism. And that scare as mnay people away from the cause as they do bring people in. And this means that it is only when the mainstream parties get involved do things happen, modern facists can't be forght by the far left, it has to be from the middle ground.

Look at the US, you've got Fox News, MSNBC and other news orgs / broadcasters that all have an adgenda ... and you must have seen the idiotic level that some of the debates in the US have lowered to ... the beeb has always maintained that it can't take sides, hence we have a higher level of debate


Since UAF claim to be vaugly political if you advertised for them link wise, you'd have to be equal with BNP links ... that isn't something I'd welcome.

People who're racist scum exist, if even after they've read/heard all the evidence they still remain racist scum, there isn't anything you, or I or anyone can do. To attempt to do anything else to make them not be racist scum is to fall into teh entire mindset of them and their kind. Once someone has been given all the information, if they still don't come to the right* descision about it, the only option is to physically beat the living daylights out of them until they give in... that really doesn't do anything to solve the problem....

Albeit in a differnt field I guess somewhat I have a friend who was very high up in the marxist revolutionary movement in the UK back in the 60's and I think 70's, he had to leave eventually when he could no longer be associated with his revolutionary comraads who'd just given up some of their ideals and decided the only way to deal with the BMP and their ilk on the streets of London was to stab them to death... No matter how right you are you can't physically force anyone to believe in it, or ultimately you end up adopting the same faschist methods as which your ment to be opposing...

Folks, it's not the removed posts. I will not participate in this place as long as those folk are here. They are a reminder of bigotry that I can do without and they make the place stink.

Anyway, there's little here of interest to me now. Most of the folk are still good but I've moved on to festival and activism types.

I've been feeling the same way for some time now... the only thing that's stopped me is that I can't get on blogs or sites with lots of embedded stuff from the office and that's where I find the most opportunity to get online these days.

But yes, the person who yikesed your posts for removal used the "no advertising" rule as a loophole to harass you and others who advocate against violence and bigotry. It's sickening. Especially as that same individual has posted numerous homophobic comments and links to a web site for an organization that advocates and perpetuates it's own kind of violence, both which any number of people might find offensive.

Then we should go on a ing spree: report each and every post that foul, racist little man makes that crosses a line. Get some direct action going.
