Here's a weird thing I've noticed about British and American pronunciations:

Process - the Americans use the short "o" (as in coffee) and the British pronunciation uses the long "o" (as in motive). The same goes for "progress".

Now say "yoghurt" to yourself. Apart from the fact that the American pronunciation sounds so odd to my English ears, and not like anything edible at all, have you noticed that the "o"s are exactly the other way round?

There's no consistency.

That's the trouble with inconsistent processed yoghurt these days...

We don't have an h in our yogurt. Maybe that affects the pronunciation. Oh sounds like the o in forest.

We tend to have strawberry in our yoghurt, also blackcurrant, raspberry and apricot.

I thought that in the US they pronounced the first syllable to rhyme with 'snow' or an Annakin-Skywalker's-now-Darth-Vader 'noooooooooo!' whereas in the UK it is pronounced 'yog' rhymes with 'jog' or
