In my opinion they should get shot of these idiot reality shows.

I didn't even get to write a stern letter about it because I only realised today when I asked HWMBO to favorite it for me smiley - cry what am I supposed to do with out my Sunday evenings with Poirot? smiley - wah

I am with you there reality shows, the fact it is being recorded makes it produced and directed, (there is always a producer on the credits).

So it is not reality it is produced for the gullable.
ITV encore is of much more value.

Yes it's so frustrating that they've decided to keep ITVBe which is full of the stuff, seems ITV only want to cater for the 20 do things instead of us in middle age.

It's a commercial channel, so clearly you (and I mean your demographic) didn't watch it enough, nor buy the products they promoted in the breaks.

The 20-something women who watch TOWIE on ITV Be are happy to buy all the cosmetics they plug between (and indeed within) the shows.

Now ITV3 is for the oldies. It consists of back-to-back re-runs of Midsomer Murders interspersed with adverts for Algipan and Werther's Originals. Can't you watch that one? smiley - smiley

ITV just hasn't been the same since the 1990 Broadcasting Act.smiley - blue
Bye bye companies that aimed to make quality television such as Thames, hello Carlton and the lowest common denominator.

Neither has the BBC been the same. People have so many more ways to enjoy their leisure time rather than sit in front of linear TV.

Technology's probably the biggest driver, not the 1990 Broadcasting Act.

Icy North!

Now I'm an oldie watching back to back midsummer murders how rude! *hides her crochet* smiley - winkeyesmiley - rofl

Fun aside I do like itv 3 as it shows reruns of things like midsummer and Lewis. But encore used to run things I'd missed like blue murder, some Veras, DCI banks all that type of stuff. Plus it's normally the only thing worth watching on a early evening on a Sunday.

I lost interest in television some time around 2000.

The best I can do to keep up to date is catch the movies as they come to theaters near me. This gets me out of the house for two or three hours at a time. I can relax in a more comfortable seat than any that I have at home, and watch a huge screen with surround sound.

I've contributed to it's downfall never having watched it. And to be honest, I'm not even sure that I was aware of it's existence.

I was left with a satellite dish when I moved into my current house so bought and hooked up a Freesat box. The result is that I get about 200 channels or something. And because I like film, I have a monster TV (well, when my Mother visits, I'm informed that it's a monster).

I watch BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 4 and Film 4 mostly - probably exclusively. Can't stand the ads on commercial channels. They're bad enough at the cinema but at least there they don't appear in the middle of something I'm concentrating on.

To be honest I hadn't been aware there had been a channel called ITV Encore. BBC 3, that I miss.

See that was another great channel bbc3. I'm concerned that t.v mainly caters for soap opera and reality t.v lovers.

I'm partial to a good drama or a documentary myself.

In our house we're becoming google reliant to either play music or read us books.

I also listen to a good classical music station by streaming.

My CD collection has gotten less use lately.

I listen to classical when I'm trying to inspire myself to practice my violin. I fail deeply with practice.

{See that was another great channel bbc3...}

Er, are you sure?

BBC3 still exists on the BBC iPlayer. It’s another channel for young adults. It consists of zany (ie unfathomable) comedy punctuated with embarrassing ‘lifestyle’ shows. Its demographic is the complement of those who watch BBC4.

Yes I liked the off wall programming they did. It was a bit like channel four when it first started.

I'm just wondering if they're going to bump jordskott to itv 3. I really loved that!
