h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I can tell you who played the music and I can even give you a link to it, but I CAN NOT remember or find the name of the track.

It was used as a theme tune for a 1978 reality TV programme (Yep. Reality TV in 1978).

The musical was Celtic harpist Alan Stivell and the program was called Living in the Past. The theme starts at 2.00.

Have just had a look at this and went to Amazon and sampled all the Alain Stivell tracks I could find until they all started to sound the same but I couldn't find it either. Maybe I should try amazon.fr. But I have a plane to catch.

Now I shall be inundated with Breton music recommendations. Tant pis.
