I think that's the point of a little victory dance. It's a little victory you've won when you can never win big. We all have little victories from time to time.
I remember a scene from the prison sitcom Porridge, where Fletch explains to Godber how you can't beat the system, but you make it through the stretch by winning the little victories (chiefly over Prison Officer McKay).
If anyone can find this clip on Youtube, I'd be grateful.

Running is awesome. It makes me happy, keeps me healthy, takes me out of myself, has led to obtaining a whole new circle of friends, and a fantastic way of seeing nature and de-stressing.
Admittedly, however, my running-related "victory dances" are all done at the finish line. Which is when I get to *stop* running.
