P. J. O'Rourke has to be one of the funniest writers who ever lived. I especially enjoyed his guide for bachelors who couldn't do housecleaning, cooking, etc., and weren't enthusiastic about learning.

The cover on the currently available edition is a little different from the one I remember, which depicted a dead mouse in jello . This was long before the "Office" episode in which John Krasinski put his co-worker's stapler in jello.

Nunchaku (or "nun-chucks") are those billy clubs on chains you see in martial arts films (and flea markets and teenage boys closets across the States). Also as seen in the (fake) viral video featuring Bruce Lee I linked to above.

It was even before the Gervais "Office" series.
1997 was when the bachelor book was published. 2001 was when Rick Gervais's series debuted. 2005 was when Gervais created an American version of the same name, starring Krasinski. I've seen the first season of *both* series, for what it's worth. Not that I had to. I just wondered what all the fuss was about. I'm still wondering, but it's not a big deal.
What do I look forward to? The sequel to "Guardians of the Galaxy. The raccoon is a hoot!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
