It's a corruption of "Sweet Jumpin Jehosophat" as used in Asimov's books, where Jehosophat = Jehovah = Jesus

Well, yes, but there's a connection, tenuous and arguable though it might be. Jehoshaphat was the fourth king of the Kingdom of Judah. His name means "Jehovah is the judge." The Valley of Jehoshaphat was thought to be the place where Jehovah would gather the nations for judgment. Morphing from Jehoshaphat to Jehovah to Jesus would represent quite a corruption, I;'ll grant you.

I thought it was 'Great jumping Jehoshaphat' rather than sweet. I guess that's another element of the corruption of the phrase.
