How do you stop petty things grating on your nerves like nails on a blackboard?

I had been going to call this thread "How do you personally deal with ungovernable rage" but it isn't really about ungovernable rage. It's about impatience, snappishness and maybe about anger management.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

And maybe if it's made me feel particularly annoyed I'll post it in my LiveJournal.

I try to ignore them. If that isn't possible I'll post a journal or a blog post. The other day I posted something on google plus

Damnit, I was going to say that. But I chose not to. Because, you know? Tact?

Thanks all. Especially SWL. That was nice.

So, we've got a mix of chill out, get drunk, vent, or maim someone.

I am usually pretty chilled, but not at the moment. Little things are winding me up. Mind you, there are some pretty big things that are winding me up too, and that may have something to do with it.

Strong drink is a mocker. Venting on line is either time-consuming or includes the risk of blow-back. Or both.

Which leaves us with GBH.

Lovely....

Well now, the Hows put forward here seem to be matters of choice... there's no choice involved for me - one day a sharp noise will put an end to them all. Either that or my preferred method will result in arrest and a rather slower, even less comfortable cure (and it doesn't involve just fingers).

I deal with the chap at work who leaves his washing up in the sink by dumping it all in a bucket and leaving it there, but that doesn't seem to have gotten through to him. smiley - grr

Petty annoyances are sometimes the worst. It's not like it's something really big you feel you can have a legitimate chat to someone about, but the longer it goes on the bigger and bigger it becomes.

Usually just ignoring it. And then whinging about it to Mr Vip (poor fellow).

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk

I have a habit of visualizing conversations in which I, in an offhand manner, casually mention how only an idiot would do the annoying thing they're doing, for a number of obvious reasons which I would list as if to someone who agrees with me. In my mind, they would be left with no choice but to stop doing it or admit that they are an idiot, or possibly respond aggressively, in which case I am in the clear because I didn't start it, I just had a casual conversation about something that is stupid to do. smiley - zen
Of course, this whole conversation generally stays in my head...
