No - but in line with your desire to make this place more cosmopolitan, maybe I should mention it to her. An opinion from a woman with direct, personal exerience of life in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries might be informative.

what about living in a Catholic, Protestan, Anglican... whatever religion being the mainstream? Because if your objection is because of the religion you should be leaving Britain right now, not a secular Estate yours.

As a non-woman user of h2g2 I would like to live in Morocco, but don't have the language skills to work there.

Pakistan would probs be a pretty decent place to live if you were a woman......and wealthy.
They are actually fairly tolerant to wealthy intelligent women. It's just difficult to become these things as a woman in a society that restricts the poor, ill educated women.
I suspect if you were to walk through the main shopping mall in Islamabad you would see less Burkas, jibabs, Hijabs and Jubbas than you would walking through the Shires shopping centre in Leicester.

atinythorn, there was a "study" that said just that a year or two ago: that there were more niqabs worn in Dewsbury than Lahore. I've heard it repeated several times that Lahoris look down on folk coming across from Bradford because their rural attitude is so old-fashioned.

So Effers, your definition of Muslim nation is 'any one you feel like slandering?' Fair enough, your game and your rules.
