None. Ever.

But if forced to choose, Turkey.

Obviously I can't comment for myself, but I've a friend who plans to move back to Algeria just as soon as her daughter has finished her Highers.

So I guess in her case, the answer would be 'Algeria'.

Is your friend a woman on h2g2?

No - but in line with your desire to make this place more cosmopolitan, maybe I should mention it to her. An opinion from a woman with direct, personal exerience of life in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries might be informative.

what about living in a Catholic, Protestan, Anglican... whatever religion being the mainstream? Because if your objection is because of the religion you should be leaving Britain right now, not a secular Estate yours.

I´m afraid that you are mixing socioeconomic reasons with religious ones.

The question is totally clear. It's h2g2 women centric. That is women who are users of this website.

**

What do you mean about my aim to make it more cosmopolitan? (Seriously man you are forever telling me what you think I think. Could you please start giving some quotes when you use your favoured technique of representing others arguments in *your* words?

**

And yes it is informative up to the point but we have zero information of her context in how that might relate to female users of this website.

As a non-woman user of h2g2 I would like to live in Morocco, but don't have the language skills to work there.

It was yesterday wasn't it, Effers? A couple of people suggested you could advertise the site to your cosmopolitan circle of friends.

(forgive me if I have the wording slightly wrong. feel free to C&P from the appropriate thread if so.)

Forgive me. I must eat humble pie. Effers did not call for this site to become more cosmopolitan. She merely moaned that the site *isn't* cosmopolitan. There is a crucial difference. Post 125: http://h2g2.com/dna/h2g2/brunel/F19585?thread=8286381&skip=120&show=20#p110509045

In answer to post 1:

Chefchaouen, a village in Maroc.
I was there many years ago and loved the experience.

Have you read, what´s the title... the Protector sky?

I love that cosmopolitism and intact nature at the same time.

I was thinking of Paul Bowles. He appeared in my mind in a mist of images.

It´s not the novel, The sheltering sky, what I was trying to say, but the meetings and experiences that Bowles and some friends (Tenesse Willians, members of the Beat generation...) used to have in Tangier.

Some pictures of them:

'The Sheltering Sky', Maria. The scene with Deborah Winger and the Touareg is soooo erotic.

Bradford's not Muslim any more, in fact it's looking more and more like Yugoslavia in 1991.

How do you define a Muslim country Effers?

Pakistan would probs be a pretty decent place to live if you were a woman......and wealthy.
They are actually fairly tolerant to wealthy intelligent women. It's just difficult to become these things as a woman in a society that restricts the poor, ill educated women.
I suspect if you were to walk through the main shopping mall in Islamabad you would see less Burkas, jibabs, Hijabs and Jubbas than you would walking through the Shires shopping centre in Leicester.

Loosely.

atinythorn, there was a "study" that said just that a year or two ago: that there were more niqabs worn in Dewsbury than Lahore. I've heard it repeated several times that Lahoris look down on folk coming across from Bradford because their rural attitude is so old-fashioned.

So Effers, your definition of Muslim nation is 'any one you feel like slandering?' Fair enough, your game and your rules.

My smiley - 2cents it'd be Malaysia or Indonesia.
