"south of the 49th parallel"

Oh dear, I was born south of the 49th parallel. If it wasn't part of Canukistan I guess I would be a Yank now?

Solution- instead of the N word, use Nigerian. smiley - laugh

Effers;England.

smiley - laugh RE and zoomer.

When I started school the current form of 'Eeny meeny miiny mo' at that time used 'Nigerian' as to be caught by a toe.

Nobody in the school had a clue what that word meant. It was a village school in the English countryside.

We knew such people lived in Africa..for some reason we learnt a lot about Pygmies and the kind of ways they bartered for salt...that sticks in my mind...but we didn't connect the words.

One I've felt uncomfortable with since long before the September 11th thing is the name of a certain city in northern Mexico:

Heroica Matamoros

or, in English

Heroic Muslim Killer.

Effers, I am in your generation when it comes to "Eeny Meeny" Nigerian reference. At that time "retard" was another acceptable word, whether descriptive or derogatory. I recently learned that the Japanese word "hakuchi" is a similarly frowned on and it has the same connotation.
