Rim up or rim down?

Icy's two types of people thread reminded me that there are those who put mugs away rim down.

Why? If I wanted to put the black muck from a shelf in my mouth I'd lick the shelf. (Maybe I should clean my shelves. But who cleans kitchen shelves?)

And what's with putting sharp knives and forky forks into cutlery baskets a&e end up? How stupid is that? Why do they do that?

What do you do that's entirely obvious to you, but which it seems they (and they know who "they" are) persist on doing wrong, Wrong I tell you! WRONG!

It is self evident that the toilet roll should be hung so that the loose section which hangs down does so on the side nearest the person using the loo - NOT the side nearest the wall, which is simply insane.

Furthermore it is entirely obvious and not open for debate that sausages, being as they are a melange of goodness-knows-what, are a fit target for the application of brown sauce or even ketchup, while bacon, purest, simplest and by far most favoured of meats, cannot be improved upon, and any garnish application is tantamount to what the ignorant barbarians of yesteryear were wont to call blasphemy, even heresy.

I'm with you on them.

What about the age old loo roll question. Obviously it should hang down the front - if it hangs down the back it's in contact with the wall and it's harder to grab hold of.

On the other hand, if it hangs down the front it allows people to form it into a point. Why? If you're going to do that, why not separate the sheets, form them into swans and keep them in a basket on a little side table by the toilet?

You've never noticed a trapped woodlouse floating in your teacup shortly after taking your first sip then?

(actually am rim up these days as I don't wash shelves that often either - and the dishwasher doesn't always entirely dry the cups and rim up lets the water evaporate out rather than trapping it leading to a soggy rim next time you pick it up <yuck&gtsmiley - winkeye

Er. No. I keep my mugs in cupboards too clean (or too toxic) for woodlice.

But when you put it like that.....

No. Sorry. Still makes no sense. smiley - huh I think I must just automatically check for woodlice first.

When one dresses, one does in the order grundies, socks, trousers, shirt, shoes, jacket if required. One does NOT put on the shirt first, one does NOT put on shoes before shirt, and one never, ever puts on a jacket without first ensuring one is fully shod.

re. loo roll debate. I've utilised a vertical, free standing kitchen paper towel roll to put loo rolls on. The reason being, I have a mad moggy who, regardless whether flap is front or back, (on traditional loo roll holders) took great delight in grabbing and unrolling said loo roll. smiley - yikes
For some strange reason, known only to said moggy, he leaves them alone on the vertical stand. smiley - weird

Or spiders? You really don't get creepy crawlies of any sort in your kitchen? I figure they can get in anywhere.

Actually the only time I've noticed something grim in my cup in recent memory was when it was stored rim down and I didn't notice the dishwasher hadn't cleaned it properly unitl I was about halfway down the cup of tea. Ick. Believe me, I look in cups before pouring anything in these days...

Cornflakes and similar can only be enjoyed with CHILLED milk. This means keeping the milk in a refrigerator. NOT in a carton in a cupboard. Room-temperature milk on cornflakes is like room-temperature white wine - WRONG!!!! smiley - grr

Similarly, why clutter up your fridge with tomato or brown sauce or salad cream?

The WC seat one keeps baffling me smiley - huh Seat down, lid down.

And I sometimes put on shirt before trousers. I don't have a specific procedure, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't smiley - weird

Same with mugs: sometimes rim up, sometimes rim down, no definite procedure.

When in the shower, you should always wash your upper arms first. Counselling is available for those people who purport to doing it differently.

You are all a bunch of wierdoes that do stuff wrong. And Zen, you are FORBIDDEN to EVER wash up my knives. Blade UP to protect the blade. I've never stabbed myself yet.

I'm a toilet seat and lid down man myself. Mrs PP leaves the lid UP (but seat down). I must get rid of her and get one that functions properly.

Getting undressed the socks always come off first. Naked people with socks on look wierd.

And ladies PLEASE, grundies AFTER the over shoulder boulder holder.

I do miss the toilet roll debate. I really loved that debate.

Mutter, mutter, mutter.....
