What can you hear if you lay quietly in bed?

You can call me TC

Can anyone remember the thread about "What I can see when I close my eyes?" Wonder where that went...

We have the same noises as most have. Ed reminded me though that a man in bed, simply breathing, makes a helluva din. Abandon all hope of sleep when they start snoring!

There is a factory way in the distance (I work there) making an audible 24-hour murmur. The neighbour's heating system - incredibly loud. Fantastic when it cuts out. Pigeons, morning chorus and crows. A woodpecker knocking on the tree outside our bedroom window. And, as it gets light, the shutters which roll up, letting the light in the windows. My husband has fitted timed switches so they open automatically. Don't ask.

Other noises I have heard in the past, in previous residences...

The sound of waves lapping against the embankment.
The sound of drug dealers waiting for customers (Drum'n'bass* or R'n'B* music played through car stereos).
A strange wheezing sound coming from my chest (this was the point when I decided to give up the fags).
A reasonable simulation of downtown Beirut on a bad day (this was when I lived opposite the park from which the council launched their attacks on the neighbouring council fireworks for New Year's Eve)

* Other types of music separated by 'n' are available. Don't ask me where.

Left sided tinnitus.

The occasional ambulance helicopter landing on top of a nearby hospital

I definitely don't hear myself snoring - an obnoxious lie of course since I don't. smiley - angel

My wife tells me that she doesn't snore. So the noisies that I occasionally hear coming from her in the middle of the time can't be snoring, even though that is what it sounds like. Clearly I am mistaken.

Moonhogg - Captain Coffee Break

The combined white noise of a city full of factories and traffic.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can hear that whistle in the back of your head. Amazing how loud it gets when you actualy start to listen to it.

I can also hear my daughter's bedroom clock - it sounds like it thumps against the wall as it ticks some nights. I will not have a ticking clock in a room when I am trying to sleep, they are incredibly loud at night...
