A Conversation for Ask h2g2

Yes, and they probably earn more than I did and good luck to them.

>>At present a multi national company raking in £billions runs h2g2. And we whom fund them<<
Yes.

this, too:
>> [we] find the most innane stuff regularly censored<<
is true - but separate, surely?

The corporation runs h2g2. The Eds and mods do the corporation's bidding - else they wouldn't be earning all those pennies - ?

We should cast our ire at them wot deserves it, not they who have little if any choice but who carry on among brown showers.

... do we know it's all censored, or are there one or more clever sods yikesing for fun?

I've utterly lost patience with this situation..I am NOT paying my Licence Fee which is due at the end of May, until I know what's happening with h2g2. this thing has dragged on for what? a couple of months..because they totally conned us with Barlesque. And yes that's not too strong. They said how great it was. And it was s**t. They LIED.

I've made that decision now. I despise them.

And Twigs/Twags called them twunts. And he's one of the brighter people here.

We're being treated like total idiots.

Hi Maria, thanks for the insight. On the particular example given I
can understand why some might find the time spent by others
visualising and developing strategies for such actions worrying.

On a separate matter I sometimes wonder why those that complain of
being too clever to be understood do not apply their cleverness in
better conveying their message.

The Twiggster

Right, look, I have not flounced etc. I unsubbed from this conv because I was embarrassed that someone was apparently holding me up as some sort of paragon of genius. I'm not. (Incidentally, could people please NOT do that? Really.)

I've chosen to tidy up my PS and post less because I was annoyed at egregiously inept moderation. I was not annoyed because the mods weren't "clever enough" to spot the playfulness of the first post. I was *pleased* they didn't spot that.

I was annoyed because when I accurately reported what the BBC news had said, I was moderated. This was undeniably the biggest most important news of the day, and the moderators on this poxy backwater site were saying "oh, no, you're not allowed to talk about that". Clearly this thread was coming under special attention - posts were being hidden in SECONDS, far too quickly for it to be in response to actual complaints. But the mods/Eds/whoever hadn't bothered to keep up with current events as reported by THE VERY ORGANISATION THEY WORK FOR.

Left hand, meet right hand. Arse, this is elbow.

*That* is why I've withdrawn somewhat.

On another note, might I add two things:

(a) Hoovooloo and SoRB were never distinct and no attempt was ever made to pretend they were different people. They were different names for the same account, U114627. If one is attempting to sock-puppet on this site, it is a pretty basic requirement that one starts a second account, rather than doing what practically everyone on this site has done at some time or another and simply changed their screen-name (anyone remember "A Girl Called Ben", "Alfster", and many others?) The U114627 account was banned for using the title of this (still visible) thread as the suffix to its screen-name : F71014?thread=123495

(b) "Fred Kite" is not an account of which I have any knowledge. I should be interested to see any links to it or to conversations involving it. It was not me or anyone known to me.

Most people seemed to have guessed but in case anyone hasn't I was redpeckham long name.

I had a lot of problems at that time because I was in a terrible state after love affair break-up.

I was briefly Fanny. Then Effers which I would still be, but the BBC suddenly decided, out of the blue, to fail that name.

I rather like my present name..but Maddy is a bit enticing for nootoo. I'll see.

And I think Tiggy has always been very transparent about his names.

Mmmm, this is a messy thread, sometimes unpleasant, moany and cringe worthy in some cases.

I look at it and think no wonder we are being disposed off, I expect they are counting the days and remember why I smiley - lurk so much, cos getting involved, it's not so fun.

Rather than throwing hissy fits if you have got a problem with the mods then go through the complaints procedure.

If you think that someone is yikesing in an inappropriate or malicious way then ask for it to be investigated.

If you have got something constructive to say about how the noohootoo should or shouldn't be moderated then there is a thread called moderation in moderation - I think it is on the roles and responsibilities page

Otherwise give it a rest and the mods a break.

I think it's been an excellent thread. People have been honest and that can be all of the things you mentioned in your first line Peanut.

I'm sure they'll live.

I'm sure they will live, and prehaps live an easier life without us

Question is will we?

I agree that honesty can be all those things, which is fine is the truths we are getting to are meaningful in some way.

Responses to the mods have been often petulant, anger driven and disrespectful and Twigs it seems brings out the worst in some peeps wether they like him or not

Given that we supposedly pride ourselves on our ability to articulate our thoughts and feeling we could do so much better

I can only say it seems good to me. And of course every thread can't be like this.

Considering the horrible uncertainty of the future of h2g2, and the fact its dragging on so long and the Barlesque fiasco, I'd say we are doing pretty well. And having a thread like this very occasionally is healthy thing I think.

That's my view. You have yours.

Oh dear me Mr Giggs.

"English footballer Ryan Giggs' brother Rhodri has reportedly split from his wife after it was claimed she had an eight-year affair with Ryan."
