Taking "Z99" codes as an example - one letter followed by two numbers - we have many which are synonymous with the nouns they represent. We have B52 or F16 aircraft, or the M25 motorway, You're served with a P45 form when made redundant, Or maybe you were a fan of nineties boy band E17? The question is: what's the most widely recognisable code in this format?

The Z80 was (still is I think) a processor although I think it's assembly language became synonymous with it.

If it were just one didgit and one letter, the obvious winner would be A1 Minicabs.

Also vitamins in Marmite.

Also US military rifles.
How about ZZ99s? AK47, WD40...

If we're including ZZnn formats, then I suspect AK47 would probably be top of the list - I read somewhere that in every single war since the end of WWII at least one of the sides involved has been equipped with AK47s.
