I like hats, but I have an unfortunate tendency to lose them.
At the moment I think I only have the one un-lost hat (which came from Malabarista. Cheers Mal!)

I've two top hots; a bowler; an h2g2 beanie and an Avenue Q beanie; a baseball cap I've worn only a couple of times as really doesn't suit, I'm keeping an eye out for decent train drivers cap to replace it.
I'm told I ought wear a trilby, but am unconvinced.
Hat are good. They keep your head warm which is generally a positive, more so if you're prone to headaches and migraines as I am.

They're unpractical on a bike, so I wear earmuffs (am I allowed to say that?) It also covers up/keeps in the earphones!
I, too have a h2g2 beanie. Would wear that on the appropriate occasion.

I wear my beanie on my bike. I tried a trilby for a while, but exercise overloaded the sweatband when it was warm, and I need ear-covering when it's cold, so it's now at the back of the wardrobe with a top hat (great for costumes) and a couple of caps.
I love the way a hat always adds character. The same hat can make one person look like a Dickensian rapscallion, another look like an art-house film director, and yet another look like today's hippest young trendy poseur.

More practical than an umbrella and, as long as my head is dry, rain can do what it likes.
Unfortunately I largely have only baseball hats but prefer flat caps, trilbys or other traditional english hats. Maybe I should go shopping, but I don't do shop, particularly clothes.

I tend to fall out with most hats as I have an unnaturally small head. I have one reversible sun-hat which needs a giant hair tie to keep it in place. I have a wintery fleece lined bobble hat and a couple of random beanies, but other than that I prefer Bandanna's as i can tie them to the right size for my head, and i have collected many different styles and colours of them.

When did you last see a city gent in a bowler? I did about 15 years ago - the guy was getting off the train at Haselmere, Surrey (prime stockbroker belt), but he looked very odd even then.

I don't think your head is unnaturally small, mini. All my hats are too large, but I tie my hair in a knot and presto - hat fits.

I love the idea of hats. I often wear one just to keep the rain off my glasses or the sun out of my eyes - particularly when golfing. And there lies the problem.
I really, really like the IDEA of hats. I like the idea of wearing a fez or a smoking cap and even have red felt fedora (which I have worn when playing in 'the band' outdoors - a bit of a cliché for a blues band). But generally, I don't dress for effect, just for practicality.
My head doesn't really get cold even in winter despite the lack of natural insulation these days, so unless it is raining I don't need one and feel self concious wearing the sort of hat that I like the look of.
I wish I had more hat balls.

Bel, Mini, you're lucky - most hats are too small for my big head, and my hair certainly doesn't help!

See, Mal, Mini, Bel, that's our modern non-hat-respecting society. Back when it were all fields round 'ere, hats were available in a whole spectrum of sizes, but now you just have to take what they got.

You can still choose between different sizes, but most are just too large to start with.
Here's a collection of most of my hats:
