Anti-reflection screen for laptop
Cheerful Dragon Started conversation Mar 20, 2010
I have a laptop that I'd like to use outdoors, but there's so much reflection on the screen that it's unusable. I've looked for anti-reflection film for laptops but all I can find is the privacy / security stuff that stops people seeing what you're doing. These are too expensive, especially as I don't need the privacy aspect of them.
Can anybody recommend an inexpensive anti-reflection coating for a laptop? Somebody on one website recommended using an old black stocking and turning the brightness up. If I can't find an inexpensive film, I may just do that.

I have used the black stocking trick on a standard monitor to cut down glare and it worked fine.

A related question, really. But do they still make laptops with a matt-finish screen? All the ones I've seen recently have shiny screens. I'm sure it makes them look attractive in the shop, but it's not very user-friendly.

Someone probably does KB, but I think most have shiny screens. My old laptop (may it rest in peace<winkeye) had a shiny screen and it could be annoying until images appeared when the reflection wasn't really noticeable.

My laptop has a really good matt screen. It doesn't reflect the "spots" of light that you see on other laptops and it ....
oh hold on,
that's dust.
