Does anyone know how to play the bagpipes?
KB Posted Dec 26, 2009
2legs, you could do worse than to find a small, soft creature and ask it how to play the bagpipes.

I didn't know it was possible to distinguish between bagpipes poorly-played and those played well...

Asgoes for my lodger; I don't know if he likes the bagpipes or not, my best guess is 'if he doesn't already hate them he very soon will'
My Brother and Father are each more insane than I. (I can hear Father err telling the dog something... Ithink he's maybe reading it the newspaper downstairs)
I was wondering about waht key it'd be in; as the drones are of course a fixed pitch :
In the box... I've found two chanters not*attached to the bagpipes, I guess these are practise ones...
If Iplay using the very* vaguely remembered fingering Iknew for the 'recorder', and play a couple of very simple tunes Iremember how to play on the recorder; they basically sound right, well they sound like the tune should, though I'm not entirely sure on what note is what on the chanter istlf....
I personally think the soun dof the bagpipe is the most alluring and lilting delicate sound of any instrument, a sweet delighful tone and warmth, with wide emotional expression...
well No I don't relaly.... but I'll soon find out
I wonder if the neighbours will mind me practising in the back garden tommorrow morning

found a fingtering chart, written in words... Which is easiest for me to read/use... guess Ineed to start practising some scales on the chanter and getting the fingering right... the holes are very small which makes getting the finger positioned just right more difficult than say on a recorder
