Hi, I have been reading about the herb Kava Kava and it's effects, it is supposed to ease anxiety and relax
you, if used in low dosage, be mildly euphoric and promote a feeling of togetherness in a larger quantity
and a muscle relaxant and sleep inducer in even stronger quantities. Does anyone have any experience of using
Kava Kava and could they give an explanation of any benefit's they felt during they're trial?

You don't have to chew it, ferment it, then drink it. You can also buy tinctures of it (from head shops) and powdered root in pill form (from health food shops)
It makes your mouth go numb if you chew it and if you take too much for too long it makes your skin go all funny but the symptoms dissapear after you stop.
I once took too much combined with several drinks and couldn't recognise anybody, very strange.
I'll get some better information to you soon.

Yes, I read about the chewing bit, wouldn't fancy that, although it is available in capsule form, tincture,
powder etc.; but I am interested to know from anyone who has tried it and what they felt they got from it,
did it have the effect they hoped for?, did stopping using it have any adverse effect's?, I have been in touch
with a company called Nature's Best and they are sending me a catalogue, they sell many vitamin's, herb's
and potion's, I will let people have the address if they want it, (I have no connection with said company I
might add).
Any info of this kind would be most appreciated

overall...this herb creates a sluggishly tired but giddy feeling

prinsesse Posted Aug 22, 2000

Well I might just give it a miss, I get sluggish and giddy anyway, I'm looking more for calm and relaxed, with a hint of euphoria........, hang on a minute, a glass or two of red wine does that, and they only crush the grapes with their feet, no chewing and spitting there. Anyway, thanks for the imput

I reacon you should still try the Kava. Some peoples sluggish and giddy is anothers calm and euphoric. Before you discount the trials you should ask what a couple of glasses of red wine does to "princss" before you decide.
The effect on your mouth will also be interesting but for the strangest mouth-feel experience you should really try some "spilanthus" it has been described as "having a ball of static electricity in your mouth."

I asked a friend about it and she said "kava kava is a herb that has similar sort of effects to cocaine - makes one feel good, without turning one into an arrogant w****r."
She also said it makes her feel nice in small doses. Not very helpful I know..
If you want to feel mildly euphoric try St. Johns Wort. It is supposed to be a natural anti-depressant, but it can also increase your libido. It makes me a bit manic if I take it when I am already in a good mood. I got told off for taking it when I lost the ability to talk coherently.

OK Princess what does a couple of glasses of wine do for you?, purely out out of scientific interest, you understand.
There, Dr Goof, I done it, hope she respond's favourably. and as we are on the subject, what is "spilanthus" when it's at home?
Did someone say libido, I could do with some of that, mine's a little low at preseent, (no reason given) lol, as for feeling good in small doses, I could try stringing a few together. Read loads of info about Kava Kava, but still need input...

Spilanthus, strange plant, only 4 types known (to RHS) but I have collected 5 from latin america and madagascar. shrubby with composite flowers. I can spot it a mile off but no-one else vere knows whatit is. contains isobutylamide (probably). same immunostimulant as in gold root. very entertaining plant for sensations when applied to any mucous membrain. slight stimulant effect (very weak). have viable seeds but no plants at the moment. more later, I'm late for work.

It seem's the US is calling Kava the new Prozac, and it is popular in Germany, I thank you all for your messages, but I have been told that what I wanted Kava for, I can get, with a course of relaxation, so I've booked myself some of that.
Bye for now
