DO I KNOW YOU?

I can't get rid of the nagging feeling that I'm probably talking to people from my past - from school or college - here somewhere. Can we have a notice board for finding RL people?

Are you trying to avoid your past? What's wrong what the people from your past .
You can check out people's home page by clicking on thier nickname and see what the say about themselves. But not everyone puts personal info on their page, like thier real name, age, location, shoe size, gender.....
That's the great thing about the web, its all about ideas and thoughts and what you say (type). You can't judge someone on thier gender, hair color, race, nationality, or age, because you don't know it.
But, I know what you mean. I am thinking about disclosing some personal info about me and maybe a picture, just enough to give people a jest of who I am without giving them enough information to hunt me down and punch me because I of something I said.

No, quite the opposite - I'm trying to revive my past - or rather to continue it. I regularly look at peoples personal spaces, but some are more revealing than others. I enjoy the anonimity up to a point. But I suspect that loads of people of similar age, education and background are involved in H2G2 and there may easily be someone I know.
Sorry, but you get a bit of a hankering for the folks back home when you're an expat like me.

Sorry, but I don't know of any way to get that information about we researchers. Look at their home page for hints about who they are or ask (e-mail) them for a hint of who they are, where they are from, what university they went to...
And if you can't resurrect your old friends at least you have some new friends here at H2G2.

What ? You mean you don't remember me ? Truly I am distraught. I was the awkward looking girl who sat at the back of the class twirling her pigtails. But now i am all woman.

Trillian,
Here are some websites to look up high school and college buddies or sweethearts.
www.Classmates.com
www.alumni.net
www.schoolnews.com
www.planetalumni.com
Some are just for the States and the others are world wide. A good starting point to find some of your old friends.
I hope this helps you.

I guess it would be cool to know if there's anyone here who I know,

And just to make sure people know who I'm not (just as important as knowing who I am I think). I am not phil harper at abingdon college.

My old school has a lousy web site. No chat or forums for ex-pupils or anything. Don't they teach them anything useful these days?
OK Newmarket Grammar School 1965 - 72. After that it was Newmarket Comprehensive.

- sorry - a bit ambiguous. It was renamed Newmarket Upper School actually, but I left it while it was still Grammar School
