Which movie sequels are unmissable, and which unwatchable?

Any chance of this being re-submitted. I normally hold my peace over things like this, but a posting with only one capital letter (the first one) and two full-stops by way of punctuation is unreadable. You may be TIMELORD, but even Dr. Who and his compatriots used proper sentences!

Some sequels get better and better, such as all the Naked Guns, Indiana Jones' (already mentioned) the Lethal Weapons etc. But so many sequels are so obviously just badly thought up continuations with the sole purpose of milking the success of the first, that they actually ruin the magic of the first film (examples of this are Babe - delighful, and Babe in the City - daft; Home Alone - wonderful, and Home Alone II - none of the enchantment of the first.

Would your list include continuations such as the James Bonds, Pink Panthers and Carry On films? If so, you would have to run a 'good' and 'bad' list for each as some are brilliant and some are not, and where would you put the Sherlock Holmes and Tarzan films?

On the better sequel list, I would say Under Seige II is better than the first, so is Hot Shots Part Deux, Scream II, Die Hard II, and Wayne's World II.

On the bad sequel list I would put Speed II (but my sons disagree), Jurassic Park II (already mentioned), Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, Free Willy II, Beethoven II, Grease II, Simba's Pride, Halloween IV, Three Men and a Little Lady, Ghostbusters II, Crocodile Dundee II, and Beverley Hills Cop II.

Some sequels are equally good, but not necessarily better, such as the Ace Venturas, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Gremlins, the Superman films, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures, The Star Wars films, and the Wallace and Gromits (do they count?). (Some are equally bad - ALL the Rockys, all the Rambos, and both the Austin Powers - sorry, but I hated them both!!).

Before you ask, yes I do have a life other than going to the cinema!!

Nightmare on Elm Street, 2 and 5 - lovely, watchable, considered good by some.
Nightmare on Elm Street, 3 & 4 - SUCK! Completely cheesy, no good unless you enjoy cheese.

Also...

Halloween, only the first and last of this series are watchable. Jamie Lee Curtis is a must. All episodes in the middle are shite!

Just my opinion...
