How do I remove unwanted conversations from my Recent List? I commented in a forum once and since then I am notified every few minutes of additional conversations that have nothing to do with me. Annoying to say the least. If there is no way out do I just keep my mouth shut?

This problem has been raised more than once, and I whole-heartedly agree with you. I can think of several conversations where I'd like to say, 'Thank-you, but I'm not interested in this conversation any more.' Sometimes a new posting will be made that revitalises a conversation, but when the conversation gets as long as 'Science is crap' or 'Where are our researchers from?', to name just two. And then there's the thread drift...

Your response was most welcome. I'm glad to see that there are problems here and that this place is normal after all. I was beginning to think I was in the land of Oz and I was just kinda hangin' waiting for the next tornado to blow me away. Maybe I'll stay in Kansas for a while and see what happens.

I believe The People Who Do That Kind Of Thing are working on ways of allowing you to subscribe to certain conversations and unsubscribe from ones that no longer interest you, but I don't know when it'll be implemented...

I love the way the new system allows you to pick up the threads which had got too long to load before. The only ones I want to get rid of are a couple of linguistically based things that were great fun until someone took them over for rants or sustained swearing. Just have to hope that all the other participants were irritated sufficiently and these threads will fall off the end.
I actually like topic drift - have learnt some fascinating stuff that way.

I'm just startled that our great oracle, EV himself, hasn't already found a way of unsubscribing his threads already. Though reading that back aloud, I'm sure some would say he has that.......well in hand...

The only way I can think of is to set yourself up as a new user, give your *new* self your *old* name, edit your *new* page to look like the *old* one, edit the *old* one to give a link to the *new* one, change your old name to "this researcher now resides at XXXXXXX" (where XXXXXXX is your *new* researcher page) and then post to all the forums that you are interested in thereby only getting updates on *interesting* forums. (And, still being traceable by anyone who is looking for you.)

I do just ignore the conversations I've lost interest in, but it is a touch irritating to get informed every time one gets resurrected. I wasn't joking when I cited 'Science is Crap' and 'Where are our researchers from?' as examples. I lost interest in both a long time ago!

I just thought of a real cool name and I've moved.
