Do women enjoy being taken out of context?

Everyone's said it already I guess: tradition, inertia, lack of a strong movement for it. I can't see any practical reason.

You could equally ask why Handfasting isn't a legally recognised form of marriage.

That's easier to answer: Christian cultures colonised and suppressed pagan ones (because the Church wanted to control peasants and women). Assuming that handfasting was an actual thing and not an invention of 19th century Celtic romanticists.

I'll have to try that as a pick-up line.
"What's a nice girl like you doing in a context like this?"
or
"Let me take you away from all this context."

Well in rural Scotland at least, historically church weddings have been the exception rather than the rule. Marriage was an informal arrangement between couples but acknowledged by the community at large.

*A Note Of Caution*: It shouldn't necessarily be taken that monogamy is somehow 'unnatural'. Many species - eg swans - mate for life. Others - eg bonobos - will shag anyone in the vicinity. Humans are probably somewhere in between, with considerable inter-individual variation. Different strokes for etc. etc.

And then there's the notorious Liverpool lawyer, 'Sexy Rexy' Machin, who would quote to distressed wives seeking a divorce:
'Higimus hogamus, a woman's monogamous,
But hogamus higimus, man is polygamous.'

Sounds like a drug for male enhancement.
"It biggins a man!"

Or maybe an ancient witches spell to cause erections.
Seems ironic to see it used here to erect causes.
