Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation May 30, 2005
It's very quiet here on h2g2. And the Front Page hasn't been updated. Has everyone gone away and not told us?

We have our bank holiday next Monday. I'm going to compete in the Women's MiniMarathon in aid of charity. I'll have to go in drag.

**The sound of the penny dropping**
Ah! That would explain it! It was beginning to feel like the Marie Celeste around here today!

Yes. It is another one of those weekends where people get into metal boxes and then park them on ribbons of Tarmac, with approx. two ankle-biters in the back screaming at each other and poss M-I-L trying to keep the peace while eating humbugs. Everyone getting very hot under the collar, with Mr. saying "I tell you, we are not going to Brighton next Bank Holiday" and Mrs. saying "Well, I told you to turn left back there."
I'm so pleased I don't have a car, and can watch the Grid-lock on Kew Bridge (A205 or South Circular) with a certain Smug grin.
Yesterday my B-I-L, Sister, Nephew, Niece and I went to Kew Gardens and he had to take the car (it is a 10 minute walk, but they have lost the use of their legs since having children). After driving around Kew Green twice, he dropped us off, took the car back to my flat, and walked back to join us... A case of 'I told you so?'
For those who are having a Bank Holiday, Enjoy.

Ireland is extremely wet today. About an hour ago we had a downpour and it is still raining. We haven't any real rain for weeks, so this is a bit of a surprise!

It's also one of those weekends for sitting by your PC, wondering where everyone else is, realising they're out having a better time, and whishing one hadn't spanked all of one's money, knowing there's a Bank Holiday just before the end of the month (payday).
Personally, I should have learned my lesson by now.

Should also have learned how to spell 'wishing' by now. That's what comes of having lager for breakfast.
It was raining here (London), but is now just predominantly overcast.

It's actually quite dry in Limerick. There was some drizzle a while ago, but it has blown off now. But it was lashing down all last week.
Are you from a different Ireland?
