I thought such drivel was the preserve of prawn sites (I was toldsmiley - whistle), but now Yahoo mail has one of those stupid banner ads that flashes up with the most annoying phrase in advertising. "No joke ....!"

Oh and just in case you have any doubts that they are addressing you personaly, there is the killer line "You are online at "

Wow how do they know what time I'm online - It must be me who's won! smiley - tongueincheeksmiley - grr

There must be people who click on this rubbish or they wouldn't continue to advertise. My question is why are there such stupid people out theresmiley - wah Stop the world I want offsmiley - sadface

think about this next time you're in a train, metro, bus.. half of the people surrounding you are very likely to ..

TO be fair, it's only a hundredth of all those people who ctually will, but if 2000 people see it, that's 10 taken in, which is all they need.

It's scary and depressing in equal measure. Like the creationists amongst us. Unfortunately we live in a society that celebrates and condones stupidity, so I reckon these ads will be around for the foreseeable future smiley - sadface

I was starting on the pre-stated principle that it was the lower half of the bell-curve.

no, half the bell curve will be half the population, so 1000. And 10% of that is 100.
I knew what you meant Bob smiley - winkeye
