Surely it's Mrs. Thatcher - she told us that if we all worked hard (and carried handbags) we too could be like her......rich and powerful. Unfortunately, we took her at her word and left the eighties feeling over-worked, under-paid, deep in debt (negative equity), with bizarre tastes in music/cars/decor etc. and wardrobes full of Miami Vice 'casual' suits and tafetta 'tea-cosy' dresses.
Fortunately, we now have Tony Blair - who has told us that if we all work hard (and carry a permanent smile) we too....

Midnight? Uh...well...hmm. Maybe I was asleep. No, I wasn't doing anything at all. At least I think I was doing nothing. If I was doing nothing I couldn't have been responsible for the 80s. Or could I?
