I wonder if he'll have to wear crotch pinching red tights, a shiny breastplate and a helmet with a feather in it.

cool.
Question is though, given that he awards an unseen university doctorate whenever he receives and honourary degree from a uni, what award will he confer on the Queen or a member of the awarding council?

Excellent news...though he could have got it with less effort and faster if he had ridden a bike round a track a few times!!! about 28years earlier.
This is not meant to be a 'funny' or sick comment but...I hope he is able to remember his knighthood for the longest possible time.
Presumably, he has now been officially recognised as writing literature!

I saw an interview with Pterry on his award - and that question was put to him, and although he acknowledged his public championing of causes relating to Alzheimer's has been prominent in the last year or so, his writing has spanned 25 years and he at least considered it a reward for his writing.

I've had someone telling me he didn't deserve it because only people who did things like fire fighting, police work, medical staff and armed services should get one.
He did later modify it to say that medical research and scientists like Hawking should get them but not fairy tale writers...
probably one of those that only reads non fiction...

If only people like
"I've had someone telling me he didn't deserve it because only people who did things like fire fighting, police work, medical staff and armed services should get one."
that got one then I would agree but people get them for making a lot of money or for being a civil servant or as has already been pointed out riding a bike round in circles for a bit. In which case he definatly deserves one.
