Should we hang draw and quarter Timmy Mallett?

After all he did a dreadful cheaty thing by trying to stop his opponent winning the gross eating competition.

Or should we line up the newspaper editors under gunpoint and ask them politely to actually report on the actual news?

Such as massacres in India, global financial meltdown, wars in Africa and the Middle east...

Why do I have to hear about a s**t programme I don't watch, don't want to watch and don't want to know about on the excremental news?
Reality TV isn't news.

It seems he has been a reserve on that programme for a number of years.

He said he would probably piss other contestants off as he gets cranky when he doesn't eat enough.

He's very self-aware of what he's doing.

I'll give him some slack as he does a huge amount for charity in boosting kids confidence. His range of glasses many years ago helped kids wear them who were afraid of being bullied etc.

I have to say I do not watch 'that' programme but did read the article.

Why is he in the news? Because all the media outlets thrive on reality TV. I always wonder why the BBC have the Big Brother evictions as top news when it is from a rival but presumably it's a back scratching exercise as the other outlets will report on Strictly Come Dancing or whatever 3month long singing audition they happpen to be doing.

TRiG,

Be very, very grateful. He is (or was) a children's entertainer from a few (ahem) years back.

Possibly the only TV presenter more irritating than Ant & Dec.

Oof, there's some pretty stiff competition in that regard.

For the record, I wasn't really complaining about Timmy Mallett himself - since I haven't actually seen the guy properly on telly for many years.

What annoyed me were the lurid headlines about his dirty cheating behaviour on a nothing TV show. Hardly something to write home about considering what else we have to worry about at the moment.

We'd guessed that. But can we hang draw and quarter Timmy anyway, please. smiley - grovel

The fact he's on the TV, along with the host of other non-event shows is all part of the 'circuses' half of 'bread and circuses'.

People, as a whole, don't want a constant stream of what the world is really like, they might feel guilty about how lucky they are, they want entertainment, and something to gossip about at work.

Hah, we've just been lulling him into a sense of security. smiley - evilgrin

If we can't give him the medieval treatment, can we at least leave him in the jungle after the show ends? smiley - winkeye
