Well at the minute one of the most catchy is that "can hate be good, can hate be great" song on some tv advertisement, unfortunately...

well I (and anyone else who has to suffer the Lolipops I suppose) get an ohrwurm from Meine Oma Fährt in Hühnerstall Motorrad (My grandma drives a motorbike in the chicken shed)

It does have a catchy tune, but it's driving me mental.

Worldwide, I'd guess at Happy Birthday as a catchy tune.

"Can't get you out of my head" by Kylie Minogue is pretty high up on my list.

Well, I suppose it's better to have that in your head than "I should be so lucky"!

The first thing that one thinks of is ... it must be really awful, like "Macarena" or "The Ketchup Song" or the Hampster tune. Or the Spanish flea as suggested above.

A strong contender would be Handel's Water Music (the Eurovision theme) or Mozart's Kleine Nachtmusik. Or the Habanera from Carmen.

What is "catchy". Does it have to be fast and bouncing, or can it be slow - like .... erm some Carpenters songs.

What is catchy to one culture is not to another. How often does a song have to be played in public before it catches on? Is that how you measure "catchiness" - the sooner it catches on, the catchier it is?

Catchy, for me, is a song that u may or may not like, but which you find urself singing unconsciously, sometimes just one line over and over!

An example for me would be 'Obviously' by Mcfly - a song I hate, but was caught singing the other day. Brings a shudder to my bones!

The first one that popped into my head was Bongo Bong by Manu Chao. Great song. Now it's stuck in my head again...

Second Manu Chao, although I'm sure the song is King of the Bongo.

I don't own it and haven't heard it in years but 'Yellow Polka-dot Bikini' pops into my head from time to time and refuses to leave

once voted the worst song ever and to cathy to be good for anyone is the Bird dance... Or de Vogeltjesdans in dutch. that one is bad! And now there is also Schnappy, (der, die or das) kleine krokodil... Lets say that that song is a reason to go shopping for handbags

I think I prefer the badgers to the llamas and the hampster to all of them. I miss the hampster.
