2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Saturday just gone we arrived at the pub at 10.56, and had to wait for them to open the door smiley - doh we left (a different pub as we'd mooved about between pubs over several countys) at 23.40...

I normally go to the pub leaving the house at about 8 or 8.30, tonight I am leaving at 8 or a bit before depending on what time my friend turns up smiley - puff when at uni, I'd go to the pub at 6 or 7 PM every night leaving at 23.30 or later if we went on to a club, but I loath clubs smiley - erm

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

I finish w*rk at 19:00 and so I guess that is when I head to the pub, leaving around 23:30, (as I live 20 yards away).
On my day off I head there at 20:00, again leaving at 23:30.
On Sunday, as it is the only all-day opening of this Pub, I leave at 20:45 (normally after a stack of Ironing) andthen leave about 00:00/00:30 depending on when my Mum closes the Pub, as I walk her home.
However I do have a day off if I'm gigging.

Not bad in 27 years, although lunchtime drinking has gone out of the window... smiley - sadface so I don't start before 16:00 as a rule...

I have one rule though... I only ever go out for one drink...

The problem is it may take six or seven to reach the one that I went out for... smiley - laugh

Don't forget, too much blood in your alcohol system is bad for you too.

Depends - If we're eating first in a restaurant we'll probably end up in the pub around 11 or 12 pm and stay till they throw us out (which in some cases is 2 in the morning - others its 4 (They've got very civilized opening hours here in France) Otherwise it's not before nine or ten at night.

When I first came out here I used to fall for the trap that all Brits fall for when they come across continental opening hours... Go out early and drink at the normal rate you would when you're expecting the bar to close at 11 pm... And by the time you realise they're not going to close it's already 2 in the morning and you're a burbling wreck under a table somewhere smiley - drunk

It really depends on the country I'm in.

If I'm in the UK, I tend to go to the pub after work...when I'm working...so usually quite early. Say 6pm. This is usually with a view to departing early to go home, but unfortunately, sometimes I drink "magic beer", which removes all free will and means that I remain in the pub until I'm thrown out.

If on the "continent" (Europe apart from the British Isles smiley - biggrin), then it tends to be later, as I know that you can buy a drink at 1 minute past 11.

Don't really have enough experience of Scottish and Irish rules to be able to comment. But on the occasions when I've been to those countries, I've noticed that they serve "magic beer" in their pubs, too! smiley - tongueoutsmiley - drunk

In Britain never, but when in France or Brussels we pop in at any time of the day or night. If we can't sleep then we pop out till 2 or 3am, and drink slowly. Then again I do bars in Europe for the language, the quality of the beer, the cultural experience, the coffees good and the foods good.

In Britain the beer is bad, the foods is usually bad, its full of smoke and binge drinkers.

Completely different scene.

Sorrel, just because you don't like the beer doesn't mean it's bad. I don't like a lot of continental lagers, that doesn't mean they're bad, just not to me tates.

I wouldn't know about continental lagers, I drink real ale, and a lot of pubs don't know how to keep it, those that do are full of smokers. I buy mine over the web instead. Belgium especially has a great tradition of real beer, not lager at all, thats what we drink when we are over there, and we order that over the web as well.

Its cheaper and we don't have to breath in smoke or hear the tripe that the local binge drinkers come out with. Living in Croydon where 400 football fans rioted after some football game last year, means that I do know what it is like being in a pub with binge drinkers. Not something you have to put up with on the continent, unless the brits are there on holiday of course.

I can't remember the last time I went in a pub that really couldn't keep real ale. I've been in a few where the beer was merely 'okay', but it's years since I've been somewhere that did consistently bad pints.

Teach you to live in the bloody south, love. They don't do anything properly down there smiley - tongueout

Well down here we have Youngs, which is the worst beer I have ever had. drinking Ramrod is like drinking vinegar.

Still I don't have to worry so long as the web keeps going!

BTW beersinabox and belgiumshop dot com are the ones I would recommend

If it tastes like vinegar then it's off. Don't go to that pub.

I have no need to buy beer via the internet, I *like* pubs. And my dad brews his own for parties.

Yep but if there are any other people who like beer but don't like smoking, then the recommendation is there.
