Songs That You Know You Should Hate But Can't Help Liking
Mu Beta Started conversation Jan 28, 2005
I have an obscene number of these, but the best known:
Down Under - Men At Work
Mr Blue Sky - ELO
December '63 (Oh What A Night) - Frankie Valli
Stop - Spice Girls
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
We Built This City - Starship
C'est La Vie - B*Witched
99 Red Balloons - Nena
Picture Of You - Boyzone
I think I'll stop now. Anyone else want to share?

Come, come, Master B! Why should you 'know you should hate' anything? That's the attitude that got you where you are today, disliking the Sound of Music!
Either you like something or you don't. There's no reason you should analyse it and decide whether you should hate it or not.

Down Under by Men at Work is entirely justified! It's a good song!

Thank you.
Gnomon - Being reasonable is not going to make me like the Sound of Music. Never.
Ralph - Nena did two versions of 99RB: one in English, one in German. So we're both right.

Yeah, Britney Spear's 'Toxic'.
I think 99 Red Balloons - Nena, is one of the greatest songs ever written, especially the German language version...

The German version doesn't have anything to do with the colour red.

The cousin of this thread, songs you shouldn't admit you like: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F19585?thread=293449 I'd have to agree that "C'est La Vie" is a nice, vibrant, nicely structured song.

Britney's Toxic (although the cover by Juliet Turner (?) is ace)
Brian McFadden - Real to Me
Spice Girls - Move it shake it prove it...whatever
Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground. And also Love Machine
Baz Luhrman - Sunscreen
*Nsynch - Pop
J-Lo - Play

I keep finding myself tapping my toes to M bop by Hanson as it appears on an advert (chewing gum I think). Love it!
