They are trying to get cola drinks out of the schools in the US.
I think they are adddictive at some level and they do get kids hooked on them and people stay with their brand for life.

It rots your teeth and bones. Information can be found but not easily. Something about phosphorus I think. It's about not allowing you to absorb calcium into your bones at a young age when you collect most of it for your bones lifespan.

Most complaints are about the sugar or sugar free additives. I think the sugar substitutes in the diet drinks are really bad health news also. I believe h2/web sailor has read a lot about that but I could be wrong.

There has been some speculation that it's training for beer because of the carbonation.

Fruit juice can be as bad on weight gains in young children drinking it frequently. They do not talk enough about the weight problems or long term cravings for sugar, rather than fruit, that usually developes.

I like the taste of cola drinks but I've been trying to cut my intake of them for health reasons lately and it's scarily hard. Chocolate, crisps and jellies have all gone with barely a wimper and yet I really struggle to not drink cola drinks. I think actually writing that and seeing it in print has made me more determined to try and quit. There is one situation where I do find them appropriate, on long bike rides I take a bottle for the energy rush, in addition to a couple of cartons of apple juice for hydration

Zantic - Who is this woman??

You and me both HonestIago. Giving up the cola is hard. Gave in seriously badly at the weekend - bought 2 share size as the bf was over and ended up drinking both over three days between the two of us. This however is not too bad, as I used to drink that much in a day.
Crisps have been easier, but I'm not so sure about the chocolate - but the mega size bar that I got for christmas is only half gone.
