"fcuk (note small letters) stands for 'French Connection United Kingdom'"
Well, that's what they tell us.
"... and seems to me to be a perfectly legitimate abbreviation."
Really?
TRiG.

I know it in the motor trade as F'd up beyond all repair/recognition. FUBAR.
And no, you have me all wrong, I just take take take...

Part of the beginning of the fcuk was a mismailing from their Hong Kong office FCHK. They were told some time ago that using fcuk in sentence context (smart as fcuk) where it could be mis-read was frowned upon and they shouldn't do it again

Recognition or repair, we use it contextually. Recognition works best for accident damage. Repair works best when it's the vehicle that's gone wrong, not the driver, or when the damage is bad but you can still see what it was once...
Picky lot, mechanics
We also have our own measures of torque (i.e. tightening a bolt or some such). Usually FT.
tight.

Fed Up Beyond All Repair

Fed Up Beyond All Recognition
for those not in the know FUBAR BUNDY is Fed Up Beyond All Repair But Unfortunately Not Dead Yet (medical emergency room slang)

IT speak: RTFM...
As for fcuk... At work, I occasionally use the Company in a sentence such as
This piece of IT is totally French Connectioned', rather than swearing (Which I only do under very extreme provocation!) and usually means I've about had it with said piece of technology... So it has it's uses, but I don't find it offensive, just irritating, like most Acronyms, and my place of w*rk is full of them!!!

Read The ing Manual.
In terms of IT speak I have been known to close out calls with the phrase 'PLBCAD Issue'.

Reading this thread I can't help but remember Rimmer from Red Dwarf trying to find a name for their intrepid band of monster hunters:
'I thought 'The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society.' Er, just one drawback with that - the abbreviation is CLITORIS.'

As a previous workplace, they set up some of each department's staff as first point of contact for IT problems to see if they could resolve it before taking it to IT support. The title they gave to these staff - Computer user, Non-technical. Sometimes folx just don't think.

That's stunning!
I bet they did think but decided to see if they could make it happen anyway. I'm sure it couldn't have happened to nicer non-technical computer users...

No, this was a management level initiative, you know they ones, nothing to do with the people who actually do any of the work.

Oh, if that was me, I'd try it! I'd love to have the balls to try and sneak something like that through, it would make me feel better in some small way. Especially if I could make sure it wasn't traceable back to me

I don't think the non-mangement types pointed out the fauxpas, just laughed at what happened and enjoyed it quietly.
