Broadband Problems?

Post 1

Trin Tragula

Having been trying to get online for most of the last hour and a half (I'm now on PAYG dial-up, P'ing as I G), my ISP's inordinately expensive helpline just told me there was a 'global problem' affecting all Broadband users and it should be cleared up in, oo, twenty-four hours.

So... anyone else getting this? How global is it?

I'd be especially interested in hearing from customers of the ISP for which there is no rhyme in English, apart from Borange.

(Of course, if there is a global problem... Hello! Good to be back? smiley - biggrin)

Hi Trin

Sorry but this is what my router tells me: -

Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 6240 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps

Perhaps Wales is not part of the global internet phenomenonsmiley - erm

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Something* had* happened whilst I was out this evening... when I got back I went to check E-mails, aand the broadband connection wasn't 'up'/. This might not be a problem with the Broadband per sai, as it could be the wireless doobry being screwed about by the idiots with no security on their wireless connections who live up the raod (why do their connections seem to interfer with outs, when there isnt' the slightest sign of htem trying to hack in or anything)? smiley - erm
I reset the wireless doobry and it connected up straight away smiley - erm

I had some problems earlier on this evening around 20:00, it took about ten minutes to load a page but it seems fine now.

No problems here ... perhaps your connection passed out because of the whiff?

No problems here.

I used to use the broadband provider that rhymes with "borange" and I can tell you this for nuffin': their technical support people will use any lie, trick or deceit, and blame anyone or anything but themselves, for any problem, no matter how small, that you bring to their attention.

Thanks very much for all the help smiley - ok It did clear up pretty soon afterwards, in fact... but Borange are a bunch of fibbing gits smiley - cross

Allegedly.

No. They are a bunch of fibbing gits.

Campbell taking a job there would surprise me not one bit. Match made in heav... somewhere. Match made somewhere.

Orange are rubbish. Move to a proper broadband supplier as soon as your 12 months (or whatever you signed up to) expires.

There. It's official.

I have been with the company in its incarnations for about 6 years and have never actually had a problem with them. Just this weekend. I know a few people who have had problems with them and have moved supplier but they are maoning about their new suppier...shrug.
