Just watched "Casino Royale". I'd remembered finding it amusing as a kid, but it just wasn't funny. Normally, I'm a fan of Peter Sellers, Orson Welles, and Urusla Andress; and given how much I loathe James Bond films, this should've been a no-brainer. But smiley - yuk!

And with an irritating score by Burt Bacharach to boot. smiley - yuk

Went to see Brokeback Mountain on Friday night. Excellent. Who would have thought Heath Ledger was such a good actor? Up there with Ralph Fiennes performance in The Constant Gardener I think.

And watched 2046 on DVD yesterday. Every single shot is beautiful, but found the story very disjointed and hard to follow. Anyone else seen it?

Looking forward to Jarhead on Friday. smiley - smiley

Saw Match Point at the weekend. I'm a die hard Woody Allen fan and really enjoyed his change of tack. I know he is a love him or hate him' director but I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to Brokeback Mountain which I am off to see this week.

I went to watch "the producers" it was very funny I will have to watch the old version as I havent seen it for years.

Following from that I thought Id have a musical christams, I watched ""maori" Poppins" and didnt like it as much as the book but did loved "Chitty Chitty bang bang" all over again and Im stilling singing the old bamboo and doing the dancesmiley - cool

I also watched my favoutire ever musical "Team America" a great film and the DVD is worth the money just for the array of filthy names Trey Parker and Matt Stone call actors and hollywood people in general and Gerry Bruckheimer in particular.

For the New year I thought Id get into some sci-fi comic book type stuff watched Kill Bill2 and Sin City both of them were great I really want to see another Sin City film.

Then I watched a film called "the ghosts of Mars" or something like that. Sweet jumpin jesus it was awful. It was so bad it almost made me not want to watch another film ever again. After watching the "Transporter 2" I will certainly never watch another film with Jason Statham in it.

Went to see King Kong on Saturday and I thought it was very good but over long.

Had 20 minuts from the first section and 15 from the middle had been cut out I think it might even have been great, but as it was I had got a bit bored by the time the simply fantastic final act took place.

Bb, I just found out today that the bleached-blond "Nazi" who did the singing in the "show" Springtime for Hitler (from The Producers) was none other than John Barrowman, who is Captain Jack in Doctor Who.

smiley - wow

I'm looking forward to seeing "Just Like Heaven" tomorrow morning, I can't see King Kong as I'm taking my Dad to his hospital appointment for 1:50pm and it wouldn't be finished in time (Kong I mean). Maybe next week...

I won't be bothering with King Kong. Partly because it's a cheesy blockbuster, Peter Jackson or not, but mostly because for as long as I can remember the idea of a monkey falling in love with a woman has struck me as anthropomorphic b*llocks.

I'll just go and watch Brokeback Mountain again instead smiley - biggrin

A friend lent us Mogambo on dvd - what a riot! I just loved how Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly were on African safari with perfect hair and makeup, freshly pressed clothes (never wearing the same ensemble two days in a row) and *especially* the silk pyjamas and dressing gowns. smiley - biggrin

Ah, they just don't make 'em like that anymore, do they?

They certainly don't, no. Whether or not this is a bad thing is probably best left to reader's discretion. smiley - winkeye

Don't think I'll be watching Brokeback Mountain - looks incredibly 'worthy' and such stuff doesn't do it for me. Next on the list is either The Producers or Jarhead.

We did watch Takeshi 'Beat' Takano's beautifully judged homage to Wizard of Oz, Kikojuro the other day. Just entrancing.

Saw Brokeback Mountain last night smiley - wah It was nothing that I was expecting. Looking forward to a bit of nicely window-dressed porn and I got an amazingly beautiful and heartbreaking film, everyone coming out of the screen had the same expression of depression.

Don't make me laugh. Trainspotting stinks and, as anyone who has ever known a junky will attest, they aren't anything like Ewan Bleeding McGregor.

I've met plenty of junkies ta. And yes, they look nothing like Ewan McGregor, or Sick Boy or Spud.

Anybody assuming that Trainspotting is supposed to be a reflection of real life is guilty of confusing reality with entertainment.

But within the confines of the fantasy world that is film, McGregor's is a great performance.

Honestlago, loved Brokeback Mountain too. The last line almost made me cry!

I thought McGregor was very good in Trainspotting. And Big Fish. And Moulin Rouge. And Shallow Grave. He's never going to set the world on fire, but an occasionally good actor nonetheless.

Totally agree. Quite liked the other three Ewan films mentioned, though he does come across rather wooden most of the time (imo).
