First Hootoo post?
clzoomer- a bit woobly Started conversation Sep 26, 2004
Does anyone know how to find out when one's first post here was? Other than going into the conversations and going back page after page until the end?
if you do! (Oh, and please tell me as well!)

A good memory, and bookmarks. In fact that's the only suggestion I can come up with since if you've posted to your first conversation more than once it won't be the last in the conversations list.

Good memory? What were we talking about?
Oh well, lost in the mists of time, then. I must admit it was for selfish reasons, anyway. Bragging about how long I've been here. Does this mean I can lie and no one will catch me out?

Well, c'mon then. Share your first post with us.
I will if you will.

Unfortunately the first post of mine I can find is in response to my first EG entry. Therefore I'm pretty sure there must be earlier ones somewhere.

I think it is quite likely that for most people there first post owuld be responding to their ACE-ing.

Mu Beta Posted Sep 26, 2004
Well, that should be quite easy to find...
Well, that's my earliest yet - F84859?thread=169436

hi zoomer,
Check here, posting 70 - might help. Otherwise, ask Mina.

If you look at a person's user space in Brunel, it shows the date that it was first edited on.
Which only helps if you edited fairly swiftly after arriving.

The oldest post from cl zoomer that I could find was this one. F96606?thread=223140
But as Mr. B has said, there could be older ones if you posted to a conversation and then lots of other people posted after you.

Over 21,000 skipped conversations later (the majority I've not posted in, as is the way with Ask and Peer Review) I've come up with this. F25024?thread=24790
My first journal entry, almost five years ago

First Journal Entry. Well that's an entirely different kettle of lemons. How do you do that? Mine end after a few because I deleted the rest (or unsubscribed or whatever).

I am amazed...
I'm on currently, (counting this one) 569 different convos!
My first post was this one: F16720?thread=14340&post=112287#p112287
The only reason I know that is because it was quite a while before I started posting regularly and I remembered it for a long time.
I'm sure there's got to be some better way to find your posts than just reading through all your backlogs... Maybe one of the gurus/techies know.
BTW... I was never ACED... I joined in the middle of the Great Sign On 9.9.1999!... There were just too many of us and very few if any Aces back then.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Sep 29, 2004
You can see all your old postings in conversations you are still subscribed to using MP followed by your user number in the address bar. For example, my user number is 151503, so I can see my old convos with:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/MP151503?show=50?skip=2000
By careful choice of the skip number, you can show the oldest posting on this list. But the list is sorted by the date of the last posting in that conversation, so it is not necessarily a good way of finding your oldest posting.

Thanks... that's a handy tool for finding convos.
What might be nice would be some way to search through a convo to find one's own postings. Kind of like searching a document for each occurance of a certain word but with one's username.
Of course I sometimes like rereading the backlog of old convos.

Well Gnomon, that is just terrific!
I find my first entry -- only about 900 back, I thought it would be more -- was F25082?thread=222870 on the 11th of November 2002. I opened a new thread under the entry on hobbits, and blew my entire .
Nobody replied

It seems MP doesn't find postings to threads you have unsubscribed from; I remember the Lighthouse Bar from the early days . . . still serving? to see . . .
