In as few words as possible, what do you think of when somebody mentions Xena:Warrior Princess?
If your reactions are positive, what did you like?
If your reactions are negative, what dis you dislike?
Those who don't know what it is are obviously excused from answering.

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Oct 10, 2007
Enjoyable so long as you didn't take it too seriously or know/care anything about the myths/history they were mangling

Didn't she win Eurovision for the Ukraine a couple of years ago?
Why do I imagine she's a lesbian icon?

'Why do I imagine she's a lesbian icon?'
You're not imagining it.

IIRC, the writers scripted the show so that Xena and Gabrielle's relationship could be interpreted as a lesiban one, if you were so inclined to do so.
I seems to remember one writer using the phrase "bring your own subtext" to describe the series.

Confusion as to why any would want to watch it, or think that Lucy Lawless is attractive...

Because some of us enjoy good cheese, and tall, dark haired, strong, kick-ass women?
Your reaction is the one I get pretty much any time I mention Xena to anyone. *grins*

I've no fear of strong women. I want a Alisa/Zhanna Friske for Christmas.

I'm not really here Posted Oct 11, 2007
I used to like it, but can't remember why. Had no idea of any subtexts, although that explains why my boyfreind at the time liked it, which is why I started watching it! Now just one more thing I want to punch him for.

Anyone that would bother fantasising about Xena when you were in the same room clearly had some problems...

He did! He preferred to be in chat rooms than home in bed with me. Not a xxx chat room, but definitely 'adult'. Stupid waster.

And could a large German sausage be involved?
That would make it a Mina-Xena wiener scene.

Sounds like you are well rid of him.
I really liked alot about Xena but found it almost impossible to get past the mythological and historical mangling (which was completely unnecessary and idiotic IMO).

Gods, the episodes with both Boudicca and Julius Caesar in, and I hated the way Gilgamesh was depicted.
