Well the thing is I quoted a figure off the top of my head of roughly 16,000 miles the po-pooing I got suggests to me I am way out. Say London to Wellington?

Hmmm, the Earth is supposed to be about 38.000 miles in circumference, and seeing as New Zealand is just about the other side of the world my off the top of the head bid would also be 16.000 miles.

http://www.wcrl.ars.usda.gov/cec/java/lat-long.htm says that it is 11000 or therabouts. Of course that is prolly calculated as surface distance on an ideal sphere smiley - smiley Until later...

On my spiffing airline reservation computer London to Auckland is 11825 miles. Said spiffing computer doesn't say how far to Wellington from London but Auckland is 299 miles from Wellington. Hope this helps
