Follow to the sauce, the source, locate the location, and find the root, the route, for unto that which has utterith the smell is that which is consequently at fault for the smell, I'd look behind the fridge.

The fridge door was closed and it was not that sort of smell. Phew there it is again.
The dog? He usually gets the blame for that sort of thing.
