I'd have liked to see Derek Jacobi stick around as the Master, though I'm sure he has Better Things to do. No doubt John Simm will be great though.
I wonder how dedicated Whoheads here react to Charlie Brooker's assertion that David Tennant is the best Doctor ever?

I agree with everything Charlie Brooker says about anything for he is infallible, but even if that weren't the case I think I agree with him about DT.

Why is the Tardis susceptible to attack by sonic screwdriver?

@41 I agree. After all, I'm told Derek Jacobi is a massive Who fan.
@42 I disagree, although Charlie Brooker is generally great. I think Tennant is a bit too manic and chirpy. I preferred Ecclestone, for a start: you could beleive that he had great depths inside the quirky exterior.
@43 It wasn't attack, it was more like infiltration. I would imagine that all the Doctor's devices are calibrated to interact with each other, should it become necessary.

Technically there is also Gordon Tipple (I think that was his name) at the start of the McGann TV movie. Originally, he was scripted to narrate the voiceover at the start but ended up looking like a computer graphic being exterminated by a CGI dalek!

Doctor Who has been very good lately. Just watched Doctor Confidential
23 June 2007, and that was very good as well particularly the compilation of all the action scenes. All the saxon references in the older episodes was very clever even if I missed them.

Just realised I have been watching Doctor Who for nearly 45 years now.

What a blinder last night's episode was. Can't wait to see how this is going to unravel.

I'd say this latest episode was more of a quite good episode, but laden with loads of awesome bits. The plot doesn't really fire my imagination in the way that my favourite ones have.
By the way, anybody care to have a go at anagrams for 'Harold Saxon'/'Harry Saxon'? Although, having said that, the King Harold who lost against William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings was the last of the Saxon kings...

A few favoured results:
Lax on hoards. (Lax on the causes of hoards?)
No Lard's hoax (Not an elaborate deception devised by Radio 6 Music's Marc Riley, then?)
Lord has ax on. (So he's moved on from the saxophone now he's in charge, and has strapped on an electric guitar!)

So as well as 42 references earlier in the series, we have now had the Total Perspective Vortex and what seemed to be an SEP field!
Anyone spot other DNA nods?

'Harold Saxon is elected PM' is an anagram of 'Sophie Aldred, closet X Man'!

When Martin Freeman rings Steve Coogan the two digits you see him dialling are 4 and 2.
Oh, and the crackhead who Angel shoots at the start is the director of HHGTTG film.

I approve, but who was playing him?..

Garth Jennings. He and Edgar Wright always appear in each others movies. A sort of wierd Hitchcock thing but by proxy.

That's a shame. I thought Edgar Wright had better taste.
Also, wasn't Hitch Hiker Jennings' first full-length movie?
