English to Emglish translator?
artificialbiology Started conversation May 17, 2007
Has anyone developed an American English to British (or Great British or European British or what have you) English translator? I am at times confused as to the usage of some uncommon (to me) words. This conversation was spurred on by the reading of the thread on British English - the sequel.

There was, very early on at h2g2, a very comprehensive glossary of British/American terms and phrases that commonly caused confusion for h2g2's world wide webbing of researchers.
Enthusiasm for it declined somewhat when Canuck and Aussie researchers began posting to it and taking the piss for their exclusion.
I can't immediately find it but do recall it was somewhere off the 'help' section. Perhaps a general h2g2 'search' would locate it again and/or someone may be able to post the A-number here.
