Surely they have missed the point...isnt it more sensible to make PC's more media friendly, then playing mp3's through your tv?

I dunno. In my experience, PC monitors are a long way from the quality of a TV set.

Although it will play music off your computer on your TV, the real reason they want you to buy this is so you can download films and TV shows off the iTunes website and then watch them on your TV.
There are other solutions available that aren't going to tie you down to a DRM crippled file format peddled by the only source that will work with the kit you've bought.

Apple won´t stop before everything can play mp3s. Phones, TVs, shoes, aquariums. There´s no escaping it.

And, in a stunning own goal, they prevent you buying or renting files from outside the US, thereby encouraging people to download illegal Torrents.

There are already mp3 playing lederhosen available. Which makes you wonder if they change the song being played all the time when you do the thigh slapping dance.
