My Mum doesn't live nearby so I will probably send her some flowers. She has given up chocolate for lent so that is out. She'd be happy enough with just a card (and says so every year) but I usually get her some sort of gift. She likes to know that she has been remembered.

Since I live abroad I am a heavy user of Interflora and Amazon when it comes to gifts.
I've already pre-ordered an arrangement of plants/ cacti (I normally send a slightly unusual arrangement, in a container that she can use again). And I probly ticked the box for "add some Belgian chocolates"
My kids might get round to making me a card, possibly even with some silly poetry inside .

We'll probably get Richard's mum a card and some flowers. We're going to visit my mum the day before Mother's Day. We're taking her a 'Pocket Dragon Message' that says 'Happy Mother's Day'. I don't think she's that bothered about a card, except as a long-distance way for us to say "We're thinking of you". Chocolates are a no-no for both mothers.

Are you a dragon in real life, then, as well as on h2g2?
Mothers Day...
Cheerful Dragon Posted Mar 10, 2004
Yes. Well, sort of. I was born in the Year of the Dragon, according to Chinese Horoscopes, and so was my mum. She likes dragonny things almost as much as I do, although she's not a collector as much as I am.
