Has anyone been watching Garth Merengi's darkplace, what bad actors they all are!!!
Darkplace, anyone???
Northern Boy (lost somewhere in the great rhubarb triangle) <master of Freudian typos> Man or Badger? Posted Feb 13, 2004
yeah i've been watching it, caused a few chuckles which makes a change from the usual insipid reality tv infesting the airwaves
Darkplace, anyone???

How can you tell, one minute it's in the middle of a barren wasteland (when they do the building scanning which is common place on American programmes, it does my head in), on the roof it's in the middle of a city. The hospital last week was in the middle of a forest!!!
Darkplace, anyone???

It says somewhere at the beginning (I think ) that Dark Place hospital is set in Romford...
Now, it's been a while since I set foot in Romford (thank the gods), but I don't remember it being in the middle of a forest!

Hey Articuno! i watched that once they are so funny, its a complete take off of any program every made
Darkplace, anyone???
F F Churchton Posted Feb 23, 2004
Either that or Romford Park has shrunk somewhat (since the series was set in the eighties)!!!

an intersting theory there........any one got a tape measure?
Darkplace, anyone???
Fashion Cat Posted Feb 23, 2004
The trails for that seemed so bad I refused to watch it. It really bugs the heck out of me that they are trying to say that it was done years ago but no-one commissioned it. Yeah right.

Have to congratulate him on the idea produce a crap show and then if everyone says "that’s crap" he tells us that’s the joke and what a side splitter it is too.

I've been loving it (and, indeed, started a thread about it a week or so ago that no one replied to ). It works as a spoof but has the intelligence to add jokes to the mixture, as straight-spoof wears thin rather quickly. However, I can't help but think that it would work better without Garth's voiceover.
Oh, and although the appalling Noble & Silver are in it, one of them was beaten up the other week which tickled me pink.
Darkplace, anyone???
Mister Matty Posted Feb 25, 2004
Hold on..... does someone here not understand that it's a spoof?!
Darkplace, anyone???
creachy Posted Feb 25, 2004
i never knew it was a spoof, but then i had only watched 5 seconds of it before my brain decided that if i didn't turn it off it would explode in protest at the drivvle i was feeding it
i may give it another go though now i know what it is, but i may not understand the spoofing if it was made in the eighties, as that is when i was born
Darkplace, anyone???
Mister Matty Posted Feb 25, 2004
It wasn't made in the eighties - it's spoofing eighties "supernatural" TV series. And it does it pretty well.
I'm 27, so I'd probably understand the references better than you, but it's not impossible that you'll have seen some shallow and glossy eighties TV at some point.

Like 'beauty', spoof is in the eye of the spoofter.
