Two huge 'bombs'. Must have woken up everyone within half a mile.

This must have been an 'adult' because I can't imagine a child still being up at that hour or getting up at that hour.

Now, I know* we used to buy 'bangers' as kids and set them off, but the fireworks this year, and I pressume I must be talking about the ones that anyone can buy, as there is an awful lot of them going off and obviously not in an 'organised display' type way. They are very, very loud, far beyond anything I can remember us being able to get our hands on as kids (OK, well we did have access to the 'old' type of shotgun cartridges, and used to extract the powder and use scafolding pipes to make our own ingenious 'fireworks', but I can't imagine every kid round here for the 'hearable' distance is doing this, esp not in a city centre)

You have my sympathy, dont they drive you up the wall, they've got to ban them to organised displays only, every year it gets worse, and every year people get killed and god knows what it does to the local wildlife letalone pets. OOh it makes me seeeeth.....

Organised displays in parks are getting fewer and fewer because their insurance premiums are so high? Why? Because they're just NOT SAFE. People get killed and injured at those too - ok, the ones that do go ahead are insured but ( a ) the covering company will do all it can to get out of paying any claim (like any insurance company would faced with losing that much money) and ( b ) S'no use if ya can't spend it, is it?


We had one launched from the top of the new shopping centre in Birmingham - very pretty (I work nights, 6 floors up - cracking view) and the public were nowhere near the explosions - OK, there may have been a few bruises from falling debris

Maybe that - and the likes of what we saw at the misplaced Millenium (Sydney Harbour and over the Thames) is the way to go?

Nov 5th here it all goes nut and every backyard in the country has fireworks going off. They're not banned yet, but firecrackers and sky rockets are.

Yes and they're back for the pre-christmas run-up and then the new year and then we get them all locked up by the prevention of terrorism act. Fireworks ?(i hate em) unless theyre pretty and quiet
to all the selfish inconsiderate bastids out there

I heard some more going off early evening yesterday, just being set off at the back where all the 'kids' hang out and shoot up on drugs and sniff glue and stuff... I'd like to know where they manage to get all this money from to be able to waste lots of it on 'bangers'
