LOOK TO THE SKYS!!!
Metal Chicken Posted Nov 7, 2003
I received an email alert from AuroraWatch last night but then sadly watched their graphs showing steadily reducing activity from that point onwards Total cloud cover though so I'd probably have not seen anything if we'd had more spectacular displays.
Ah well, here's to the next surge of sunspots, flares and aurorae

Oh well, not all is lost - those sunspots are bound to come back again in the next few weeks, and we also have a lunar eclipse tomorrow night. --->

Ooooh look! Something's eating the moon! I shall be setting my alarm for 1am to see the total...ah what the heck, I may as well just stay up - it's only an hour away!

sky has cleared here a bit. About to go out to have look. Don't have any film for my camera this time but as lunar eclipses are relativly common, and ive got photos from before, i'm not too worried. Though every one is different i suppose..
Just going to enjoy looking at this one without the equipment!

Too much cloud cover here However I did see the very end of the eclipse at around 3.30am when there was just a small bite taken out. Shifting clouds meant even that soon disappeared.

GreyDesk Posted Nov 9, 2003
I remembered just in time to see it. I dashed out in to the back yard about a minute or so before the totality finished.
I thought it was most impressive watching the moon slowly reappear in the night's sky.
Also it was rather convenient that I could watch it from my back yard. At one other eclipse a few years back a friend and I had to stand out in the road to get the best view and the inevitable happened. A couple of police offciers turned up to ask what two blokes with binoculars were doing lurking around a quiet residential street at nearly 2 in the morning

The was obscured by the oak tree on the green and then next door's house, when it wasn't hiding coyly behind a cloud! So I went to bed.

Well why on earth didn't you just saw the tree down and demolish the neighbour's house?
No initiative.
