I feel to see how you can compare the Simpsons to South Park, as I fail to see the comparison!!!

If you don't like The Simpsons you must be some kind of cheese-eating surrender monkey.

Comparison is.....they are both cartoons that appeal to adults for some strange reason.

The similarity between South Park and the Simpsons seems about as apparent to me as the similarity between the American Pie films and "amelie".
The *only* similarity between the Simpsons and South PArk is that they are animated, and that adults watch them. But the Ten O'Clock News and and Premiership Football are both non-animated, real life and appeal to a cross-section of society. Would you compare them?
Comparign The Simpsons to Futurama is much more rational as both are products of the same team.

10 o'clock new and premiership football are not both sport or both current affairs. Simpsons and Southpark are adult comedy cartoons. Now if you were comparing The 9 o'clock news with the 10 o'clock news - you would probably have a preference and state it rather than refuse to compare.

Disagree.
South Park is written specifically for adults, includes profanity and deals with "adult" issues. The Simpsons is written as a family show that deals with things in the same way as, say, BH90210 or Neighbours. In fact, its closest "live" analogue is probably "married with children".

You say that they are comparable as they are adult comedy cartoons. Does that meean that all adult live action drama are comparable?
I refuse to compare as they are not even similar shows. South PArk appears to be aimed at the average foul-mouthed 12 year old, despite being on late. The Simpsons is accesssible to all the family and includes satire, references to film, literary, music and te;evision moments. The Simpsons has many levels, South APrk has one which is very low.
The shows appeal to different tastes and *are* very different shows.
Bit if you want a comparison, then:
The Simpsons is, in my opinion, a much superior show to south park- The Simpsons deals with complex issues, presents caricatures of various roles in society. South PArk is a crude, unfunny, childish, badly animated programme which is ocasionally mildly amusing. That is *my* opinion, but as the two shows are very different, and I am not a fan of the childish crudeness of South rk, I don't see how the compsrisons work.
Which is better? Jackass or McIntyre Undercover?

Really looking forward to tonight's SkyOne double bill - both episodes of "Who killed Mr Burns?" @ 7pm. For those of you who don't like the Simpsons, tune in to this hour-long treat and then make your minds up.....
