How do Engines Search?

Just wondering if any one knew why, no matter how painstakingly specific I am, search engines never find my home page? Do I have to register with them or something?

To index new pages, most search engines use programs called "spiders" to read the pages and add the keywords to the engines' databases. Because the web is big (really big -- you just can't imagine how hugely, vastly...uh, nevermind), and changes so quickly, the spiders just never get around to seeing every page. The only way to get noticed automatically, as far as I can tell, is to have your page linked to by another page which is interesting enough to have the spiders crawl it every so often. Fortunately for those of us who can't afford a link on a portal site, most of the search engines have ways to add your URL to the list of those to be checked "Real Soon Now"...try these:

Good luck!
