Millenium--2nd coming?
Gwennie Posted Jan 2, 2000
We don't get offended around here. Everything is "all done in the best possible taste!" (quote from Kenny Everet's character, Cupid Stunt").

I'm sorry to gloat, but ha ha we entered the New Millenium first, although everybody from other countries were going to leave us in the lurch if anything went wrong. FORTUNATELY it didn't. And I did sleep that day. And I did watch other countries walk on to midnight. And I got sick of the New Year (mainly because Time Square was a little too Broadwayish for my liking).

According to the BBC font of all wisdom and knowledge which is not in the least bit apocraphile or mildly inaccurate Millennium Island in Kirabati was the first to see in the Millennium. You where merely the first we were hoping to see all the lights go out in. As the day progressed I was still hoping to see widescale fall out of the Y2K bug I just wish that big ball had of descended and New York had then been plunged into darkness. Ah well we live in hope.

The great thing (about being in New Zealand) was, I could stay in bed until midday on Jan 1st and still be up in time to see a live sunrise - in China. Mind you, I saw so many other sunrises that day it got a bit boring. One of these days I'm going to get up at 6:00 or something and see a real sunrise - but I'm not sure if I could get myself out of bed that early. Heck, I didn't even get up at 6:00 to see Steve Jobs introduce the new iMacs live.

Sunrises are wonderful. You knoweth not what you miss! When I used to live in NZ I saw some of the lovliest sunrises and sunsets ever! May I boldy suggest one uses something called an alarm clock??? (Preferably, a shock resistant one if case you throw it across the room...) If you're in NZ, you really should treasure what a lovely country you have there....
When we returned to the UK after a couple of years, I felt as if I wanted to wear an oxygen mask and won't take the kids to the beach unless I'm visitiing my parents in the New Forest which is on the South Coast area. The sea up here in the North East of England is grotty as we have two nuclear power plants in the vicinity, lots of chemical plants and redundant mines whose run-offs are polluting the local rivers and seas. I wish I could have afforded to live somewhere else when we returned!

Well, I was thinking my new-year's resolution would be 800 by 600, the same as it's been since I got my new PowerBook, but perhaps I should make it to watch a live sunrise. I do have an alarm clock, and it wakes me up okay... the problem is actually getting out of bed. I tend to like what I'm doing - whether it's out of bed or in bed - too much to want to stop, so cosequently I go to bed late and get up late, if I can.

I was actually just meaning that New Zealand is the first....um...nation(?)to see the sunrise. But anyway....

A friend of mine got a Millennium countdown clock for Christmas. It had a 3-year warranty on it.

To reply to the original question...
Yes, He is coming back...and as to His thoughts...probably something like..."Hey, my guys! Come up for a party! I invited everyone but some were too busy...Oh well, Let's go!"
The invite still stands.

Are you at this party? If so I hope there's an ISP up there or you'll be getting one Hell of a phone bill.
I don't think I'll comment on the original question right now, considering I've just got back from watching 'End of Days' (Yeah, we're the first country to see the sun and even were a few episodes ahead of Australia in 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman' but we're probably the last to get the movies.)
What exactly is supposed to happen when this thing-which-some-people-think-might-happen-on-a-year-divisible-by-1000 strikes? There seems to be several different theories in different parts of the same bible.
