Non-lethal?

the grenade does not explode. its really just a transmitter and power cell.
unless the device malfunctions and gives an invalid frequency, or the person is somehow 'allergic' to the signal or the part of the brain that controls breathing and heart is overloaded-
this device is truly non leathal...
your not going to break a tv by putting it on stand by.
you would be in essence inducing electromagnetic 'coma' that dissipates as soon as the device runs low on power.
dont like the idea of a beam as it requires precision and the americannots always have trouble aiming at the right target.

I like the idea of a beam very much. It allows for greater selectivity, but still has the capacity to freeze whole crowds, if swept over a large area. The grenade has a greater chance of freezin' someone you want to stay unfrozen, like, say, yourself. I like the idea of a transmitter that would induce sustained paralysis, though . . . I'd just like it to be more directional.

pardon my scepticism, but EVERY non-lethal weapon which I know of performed without significant problems during tests on fit people with medical aid standing by in case of problems.
the problem comes when you use them on lots of people rather than just one at a time, or on unfit people rather than healthy people.
in both cases, you need to be able to get medical aid to the victim quickly, to prevent various problems. however in practice, once you start using these things "in the real world", you find that it is the one thing you cannot do, so the bodycount starts to rise.
This has happened with every effective non-lethal weapon which I am aware of.
they are good in one on one situations, where you can get medical aid quickly if something goes wrong, but suck when used on crowds.

Hello to all simple inventors!
There's a show in development for Radio 4 at the moment called 'Genius' that is asking for submissions of, well, simple inventions not yet invented.
If you want to get involved look here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/comedy/genius.shtml

When I walk around Camden Market I'm always hit by the nice smell of incense. Then I realise that's it a combination of various types of incense. It would be a good invention if someone made incense sticks that contain lots of different smells combined into one.
