Asking for help on a Web 2.0 - article

Post 1

Jerkwood

Hello hootoo'rs,

I wrote an article about Web 2.0. Well I'm trying to get help to finish it. Although I think its pretty ready-to-use I am sure there are some erratas in structure and, because I'm not a natural speaker to the english language, many errors depending on the wording and grammar.

Would the community please help me? The article may be found here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/A10441360 .

Thanks in advance, JW

I still have to echo the comments made in your previous Peer Review thread, and say this is bogged down in cheap advertising jargon. You need to make it clear what the subject of the Entry is, describe it clearly and concisely for the benefit of all readers, and provide some useful or informative information.

And the place to start threads like this is the Writing-Workshop. They can give you plenty of help in bringing things up to Edited Guide standard. But we are not an advertisement site, which to be honest is the feeling I am currently getting from this Entry.

Hello Mu,

the last thing I wanted to do is advertising for Web 2.0 (if any, more the oposite). But please help me in one point: Didn't I place it to the Writing-Workshop yet? I thought I did so by deleting it from the peer preview and putting it there. If I did not, please tell me what I did wrong.

Thanks in advance, jw.

No, it's there - more fool me for not checking. smiley - doh

The point remains, though, that it's not really necessary to advertise your Entry right across the site. If you've submitted it to a Forum - as you have - then people will pick up on it in time.

To be fair, it wasn't Jerkwood's idea to ask people for help here, but somebody ( TRiG ? ) told him so.
And anyway, I've seen others post on 'Ask' to ask for help and opinions with their entries, so your harsh answer is uncalled for, B.

"Well, there is something in the subject of the entry that triggers the 'Anti-Advertisement' filter. The whole concept of (jet another 'new') phase of the internet is based on people having to buy jet another gadget. "

Well, it says a lot about what web 2.0 isn't but doesn't appear to actualy say what it is. Any chance of a definition at the beginning?
